A Subaru BRZ isn’t the most obvious choice for building into a rally car, but the DirtFish crew accepted the challenge. After stripping the BRZ to its metal, DirtFish seam-welded the chassis, fabricated the rollcage, built out a new front end, and widened the transmission tunnel for a sequential gearbox.

A weatherproof and heat-resistant wire loom for electrical and sensors serves as the BRZ’s central nervous system. Data is fed to a Motec engine control module and displayed on a high-resolution monitor in the driver’s line of sight. A quick-disconnect plugs makes it easy to service.

Tony Torchia, DirtFish shop manager, pushed the crew to flex their creative muscles on this rally-spec BRZ’s fabrication and wiring. Torchia expects the car to be a pretty competitive package when it hits the rally course.
